Review: In Five Years by Rebecca Serle
"She lives in a world I do not understand, populated by phrases and philosophies that apply only to people like her. People, maybe, who do not yet know tragedy."

Oh You of Little Faith
Who do you trust in? Think about that seriously. Do you trust your mom, dad, husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, best friend, cousin, teacher…? Do you trust God? If you said no, I would encourage you to read this But I would guess you said yes. I mean after all, most of the people reading this blog have made a major decision: the decision to trust in God for their eternal salvation. You have decided that for a future you cannot see, cannot know about with absolute certainty, cannot fully comprehend because our entire human mindset only views that which begins and ends. You have trusted God for that eternity believing…

Review: My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodie Ashton & Jodi Matthews
"Pay attention. We’ve tweaked minor details. We’ve completely rearranged major details. Some names have been changed to protect the innocent (or not-so-innocent, or simply because we thought a name was terrible and we liked another name better)."

Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer
“Do your kind even know what love is? Can you feel anything at all, or is it just... programmed?”

21 Things to Do During Lockdown
South Africa is going to be in lockdown for 21 days and here are my suggestions for what you can do during your extra time at home: Read the Gospel of John. There are 21 chapters so you can read one each day. Write a letter by hand. Particularly if you know an older person who is needing some love and encouragement Knit/crochet a square. Many charities accept squares which they sew into blankets and give to the less fortunate. There are videos online which can teach you how and the website https://www.knit-a-square.com/ explains the details. A square is a very easy way to learn the art of knitting or…

Why Should I Pray
I am a very logical and curious person and sometimes this can be to my detriment. It can also be difficult for the people around me because I will not be convinced that I should do something until it makes sense to me. This means that sometimes I won’t do something that I have been told I should be doing if I don’t understand why I should do it. Because I didn’t understand it, I have neglected to pray for a large portion of my life. I have wondered, for a long time, “Why should I pray?” Maybe you have a similar personality to me, or maybe you’re a new…

The Humanity of Bible Characters
When I was a kid, I had a belief. You might think this belief is weird or strange or doesn’t make sense. But I had it, nonetheless. My belief was that I was the only real human being in existence. Everyone else around me, including my parents, were robots. Why this huge amount of robots? Well, because God didn’t want me to be lonely so he provided me with some company. Also, don’t worry, I always had a good theology and so of course there had been another human on earth at one point and that was Jesus Christ (the incarnation is important). So why did I think that other…

Reading Plan for Modern Mrs Darcy's Reading Challenge
One of the blogs that I follow the most closely is Anne Bogel’s Modern Mrs Darcy. I love how she approaches reading and I find the way she writes and speaks to be extremely calming. Her motto is to help people get more out of their reading lives. Her podcast “What Should I Read Next” is dedicated to helping readers find new books they love. As an avid reader I appreciate her approach and so this year I have decided to participate in her reading challenge. Find it here. For the rest of this post I am going to share the books I am thinking of reading for each category.…

How I Am Choosing to View This New Year
We are already 3 weeks into the year 2020. If this had been previous years I would have long forgotten my New Year’s resolutions by now and I would be back in the slog of doing life exactly the same way as I had been previously with not much improvement on myself or progress on my goals. This year I treated New Year’s Resolutions a little bit differently. As 2020 approached I actually didn’t have any idea what my year was going to look like. I had been pursuing an internship with an organization close to my heart but I didn’t know if I would actually get into that internship.…

When the Bookworm Can’t Read
I love to read. You don’t have to spend very much time with me at all to realize this. I talk about books, I have a tattoo of a girl reading on my arm, I write about books, I listen to audiobooks, the list continues. In the past three years my number of books read has gone as follows: 2015: 73 books2016: 80 books2017: 48 books2018: 60+ (I didn’t track all of them) And what about this year? Well, as I sit and write this I have read 25 books. And it is very close to the end of the year. 25 books is a respectable number, nothing wrong with that…
